Strings are musical instrument that was played by plucked or bowed the strings. Generally, there are violins , violas, cellos , and double basses. Violin is the smallest and Double bass is the largest. Viola is smaller than cello. They are different in colors and the smaller produces higher pitches.
Woodwind are musical instrument that was played by blowing air into pipe. They usually have reed that help to resonate. They are made of wood but nowaday usually replaced with metal or plastic. Examples are flutes, oboes, clarinets, bassoons.
Brass are musical instrument that was played by vibrating the player's lip throught the opening. Examples are trumpets, trombones, tuba. There are various kinds of mutes that help produce more colors.
Percussion such as snare drum, gong, timpani. They produce sound by many ways. Somes have defined pitch such as timpani. They could be used to define rhythm or when in excitement mood.
